What the hell is the government doing wasting time and money on yet another victimless "Crime". Maybe it has something to do with all these new prisons they are build EVEN THOUGH CRIME RATES ARE AT A 30 YEAR LOW!!! Again that is just a big waste of taxpayers dollars and forcing a police state on us. We do not want both! Don't the RCMP have better things to do than worry about prostitution? They really must be getting desparate. I thought there was some real crimes for them to solve- if not then we can start to look at cutting the force numbers down. If becoming a bully to craigslist is all they have to do, then now is the time to seriously look at budget cuts.

Bulldog Baird

Hello folks.

This is an item I just read online - "Baird is an outspoken and colourful politician, known for his combative nature, acerbic tongue and mocking tirades against the
opposition in Parliament." The Canadian Press-online.

The article it was in was talking about a cabinet shuffle in the Harper dictatorship. One of the jobs as house leader, Baird is supposed to get along with the other parties to try and make this minority government work. While I am working on my online businesses and working online as a Tarot Reader at Psychic Access, I went and got my mail. In the mail was an unexpected cheque for $1300.00. Lately I have had to juggle money from one account to my bank account in order to pay my mortgage, since the money I get from being a reader comes in American funds and it gets held up at the bank for 20 days till I can use it. I have been in the terrible position of having plenty of money in my account for the mortgage but get dinged for NSF charges because it was not available. I hate when that happens. You look at your account and think you have plenty. Wham-NSF. Well today I have more than enough. I even had enough to get my property taxes up to date. I was a month behind on them. I decided to celebrate and splurge a little. I have been looking for some way to read digital text on one of those small MP4 players. I got one of them and I am listening to music I have already loaded on it. My rational for this item is that I can easily power it of one small solar panel and I will have access to some of my more critical files if I have to leave behind my laptop or the laptop stopped working after TEOTWAWKI. That has been on my to get list for a while and now I have it. another item I am looking for is a terabyte memory to back up everything on. I want several different mediums for redundancy purposes. The Internet could go down some day and I want to be able to provide some sort of digital form of knowledge and entertainment. I also want you to see the first post from my brand new blog called Mike's Bikes and Trikes. I feel great.

Why I love my Trike!
 Hi folks.

If you have seen any of my other blogs, you would know I am a man of many talents and interests.
I have been reading articles and watching stuff on YouTube about the coming money collapse. Where I live, in my end of the city there are no grocery stores in walking distance. The one I like going to is about 10 blocks or more away, so I take my bike or my trike. I took a shopping cart in and got a lot of the basics and it ended up being close to $120.00 (Canadian). Lucky for me I know how to pack things in boxes and bags and I arranged all of it on my trike. It was touch and go and I though I may have to give away some of my food. I also had a couple of bungee cords that came in handy. It was so over loaded I thought I would have to walk all the way home pushing the trike, but I decided to give it a shot and see if I could ride it. I went very slowly but it got me and all my stuff home. After I took all the boxes inside, I was curious to see just how much weight it had just carried. I weigh about 175 pounds give or take and I did a calculation of the food. It came to at least 60 kilos ( since everything here in Canada is metric) which equals at least 132 pounds with me on the bike that means the trike was carrying over 300 pounds. I ave a modified frame that has a plate welded on the back to tow a heavy duty trailer. I have seen it at work towing a a huge load when the last owner used to transport recycled metals in the trailer. He was the one who modified it. That is one hell of a good transport system . The food, if you are interested , was mostly rice and beans and some canned goods as well as some cooking oil. The cashier was very curious as to why I got what I got and made the comment "you are going to be busy" a couple of times. She also wondered what I was going to do with all that rice.

First off I like rice, but it also happens to store extremely well if it is properly packed. The beans and chick peas means I will be able to make a lot of chillies and hummus and other good stuff. Beans and rice together is almost all you need to live off of. Lucky for me again, I will be expanding my garden once more. I have more than tripled it's size in the last few years and I am growing more herbs than I can now consume in a year. I hope my potatoes do well this year. The other great thing about the Trike is the fact that I am able to load a few bags of soil on it with no problem. That helps a lot when buying extra soil. Last but not least I got a very good work out in the process of getting a couple of months worth of groceries. As a basic out lay( not including stuff like milk and eggs) $60.00 a month for food is a great deal.

Have fun, stay safe and use your bikes and trikes well this year.
Michael J. It is the catch-all blog that gets the odd stuff I can not find a place on my other blogs. I have a website at http://www.mikesworms.com that talks about worm composting and I have a bunch of pictures showing my visitors how to make a worm bin, step by step. I got a new program from one of the many sites I am affiliated with called instant bonus page. I set up bonus pages to give away to people, so they will take the time to go to my websites. One page I just created is called Organic Foods Easy and the link is http://www.ProductAndGifts.com/organicfoodseasy . You may want to check out the page or you may actually be interested in the program. You can get the program at
http://www.instantbonuspage.com/?id=17723 . Yes I know it is an ugly affiliate link but if I was getting tricky I could have made a sub domain on one of my websites and get it to forward the link from there. I have done that for other programs I am promoting, but I am not going to bother with doing all of them like that. I use GoDaddy as my hosting and domain service. They have good service and low prices. Here is another one of those ugly links pointing to GoDaddy;
https://www.godaddy.com/default.aspx . One of the reasons it is ugly is because I am not getting a dime from then for this, I just think they are a very good service. That is high praise coming from a guy who has signed up to hundreds of affiliate sites in his life. It is past my bedtime so I have to wrap this up.

Organized Chaos

I saw the doc-Life according to Monsanto and some other docs this week. It gets overwhelming. I get wondering is all this purposely controlled chaos? The next thought is who gains? Knowing that Bush has a state of the art green, efficient, solar powered,off-grid house does not may me feel any easier. As an Oilman, you would expect everything to be run on oil or diesel, but even he knows the oil will not last forever. Monsanto gains because their aim is to take over all food production on the planet. If people are hungry, they demand action even is it is not in their own best interest. Monsanto would step up to the plate and say "We can help (for a price)". Others who really control money in the world want chaos because it is good for business as long as it does not spiral out of control. A HAH! That is the word control. That is the reason for the hype and the wars and the shortages. The people in power want control. Not just a little control, they want all of it. I have a thought for them- Chaos can not be controlled. Man is not a creature you can control like an elephant or a donkey. His spirit will rebel at some point. History has shown this over and over again. What does this quest for power group know that we do not know? How do they plan to survive? Is there more than one group sowing discord? Since I don't know the answers to those questions I guess I am not a Threat. All I am is a worm farmer who has his little garden and a few friends and family to worry about. As long as I focus on what I can do and do it to the best of my ability, that is the most I can ask of myself.

What can you ask of yourself?

Michael J. I also see it as a container to sprout seeds in, an airtight container to store dried herbs and meats in and an airtight container for things like sugar or salt and harvested seeds. With the carbonated water still in it it can be made into a fountain if you add mentos to it. If it is clear and uncoloured , I see it being a simple way of making water safe if the water is left in the sun for a day or two. If one is painted black and water is put in it and a hose is attached to the screw on cap, it could be a simple still to evaporate water in the sun and the vapor is drawn to another one that is shaded or covered in tinfoil to make it cooler. With the use of a knife, I cut the top off of one and inverted it into the bottom part, taped it in place and put some vinegar in it to become a fruitfly trap. It can also be a wasp trap if sugar water is put in it. Different parts of the bottle can be used in gardening. For deep root watering, dig down by the roots and stick the bottle top side down in the soil and cut the bottom off to form a funnel. The bottom part can be used as a tray for seeds or to be placed under a pot to keep water in. The midsection could be cut out and used as glass for a green house. These bottles could also be filled with packing “Peanuts”, sealed up and combined together to make and unsinkable raft. For larger pontoons the same idea could be done to the one time use water bottles that hold about 5 gallons at a time. If there are partly filled with water and the cap left off, you can freeze water in them to be used camping or on picnics(just save the caps to put on later).

I know there are hundreds of other uses for these wonderful containers but the point I am trying to make is instead of looking at an item(any item) as a piece of trash or to be recycled, why not take that next step and by pass the whole system buy reusing it.

My girlfriend is always bugging me about holding on to everything. I would be caught under a pile of trash if I saved every last scrap, but I do try my best to reuse things as often as I can. So can you. I am a new Grandpa (kind of), my girlfriend's son is a new Dad to little Emma, so that makes me a grandpa by association. I have started a prosperity group out of my house, started giving Drum lessons on a regular basis, more than doubled the size of my veggie garden and added a herb garden at the front of the house, made a rain barrel to water my garden and kept up with the other things I have been doing like cutting lawns.

I was recently introduced to a site called Yuwie and I have been doing well with it so far. I also just signed on with a site for online psychics, since I am also a Tarot card reader and teacher. I had my first client today. It makes me feel good that I can do what I love to do, get paid well for it and live a full life. That is the true meaning of prosperity. Good luck, have fun.

Michael J. I want to share with you how I deal with it.
When I go in to pay my taxes, or any situation where I am face to face with a cashier I say " I want to give you some money."
Some of them joke and say " I would be glad to take your money.". I make it fun to pay my bills.
I pay alot of my bills through machines so there may not be the opportunity to have that fun conversation around money, so I think to myself the three affirmations I have listed up top of this page. The other thing I have learned is I have to pay myself first. Out of all the money I have flowing in to me, I set aside 10% to pay myself. These are new concepts for some people so I am going to keep this short and let it soak into your brain. Have fun.
Michael J. Lets see why! I got busy and almost trippled the size of my garden, which means there is a lot more work to do in weeding it and caring for the plants. Mom and Dad sold their farm and they have less than 3 weeks to move all their stuff out and downsize it to fit in the newer, smaller house right beside mine. My girlfriend is soon to be a grandma( which make me a grandpa of sorts), that is taking up alot of our time. Her other son and his girlfriend are moving into another house that my parents own 4 doors down in the other direction from my house. I have taught a tarot reading class which is 5 weeks long and I have an ongoing drum class every wednesday. I work out of a bookstore fridays and saturdays. i have been making Youtube videos there and uploading them. I have gotten deeply involved in The Secret and I have created what I call a prosperity bash and I will be hosting the next one on the day of the new moon(sunday the 12th) I have a retreat to go to near the end of the month and I am involved in other organizations and the green party . In my spare time I like to go fishing(sparetime? what the heck is that?). I think that covers most of the reasons I have not been able to post here on a regular basis. Forgive me?

Thanks. Now we are all caught up.What is new with you?

Michael J. Kaer ,affiliate for the gsr site. The Students who wanted apposing views to debate ended up with local rich mormons trying to threaten them, bribe them, and finally brought a lawsuit against the two students after the event went ahead. It was really sickening the utter disregard for freedom of speech the rich mormon spewed forth. The students may as well have invited the devil to town for a debate. It was just crazy. What ever happened to tolerance and freedom that the mormons say they want? They settled in Utah to get away from persecution. The crazy Rich Mormon was saying that "His" community was threatened and the youth would be corrupted. What an ass. I did not know that Mormons where so brainwashed and narrowminded (maybe just the elite, old rich ones). I am sure several professors got fired for standing up for freedom of speech. The movie said $200,000.00 in donations was pulled from the school. Thank god I am not in that crazy place.

Michael J. I am still writing, just in other areas. I am on many Yahoo boards that have Peak Oil as a theme, where I am a constant contributor. Another big item in my life is my house. A few years ago I put new siding on it(which cost me an arm and a leg). It now has a new roof, new doors, new windows, new bathroom, almost new kitchen(new gas stove), new upgraded electrical panel(100 amp service)and a new wall furnace. We have been cleaning preping, sanding, filling in holes and finally painting the kitchen. The cupboards are almost all done and the walls and the ceiling need to be done next. After that it will be a long process through the winter of going through all my stuff and tossing what I don't need and keeping what I do, as well as bringing in the new couch and kitchen table. Next year it will be working on the outside and garage as well as expanding the garden and making solar heaters and cookers. I am getting my mortgage changed over to a fixed rate which will help in the long run.

I have some possible drum students and drum circles starting up as well as helping my friend Ken Bell get elected as a local councilor. We need more green party people in municipal positions. I hope he gets in. We may also be getting a new mayor, but with so many running for the top dog position, I do not think I can predict who it will be.

That whats new in my life. Give a shout and tell me whats new in yours, I would like to know.

Michael J. I am on ROE2, ROE3, ROEca and OWL ( old ways living) as well as others dedicated to alternative energy sources. Here is an update of what has been going on.
1) My house is nearly done. All they have left to do is put in the new furnace. Then the work of re-painting and getting rid of stuff and adding stuff begins. I had planned on doing something with my garage, but that did not happen.
2) My girlfriend's patio is now done along painting the front porch, fixing the front room and painting the bedroom door.
3) The CKOAP (Chatham-Kent Oil Age Planning) group is meeting on a regular basis and we just finished a SWOT of Chatham.
4) I have been buying supplies and so has my girlfriend. We have about 6 months worth of food. I have more months of liguid vitamins( I am aiming at having a year stocked up).
5) My Portal site is up and running. One of the gateway pages is http://maximumheavytraffic.com/mibmy137 . I am focussing on that site in my traffic exchanges that I am still using. The best one still is one of the older ones at http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?120579
6) 2 of my books are for sale online at http://www.mjk-private-income.com . Both are Peak Oil related, One directly and the other is a "How to" book on making Candles,Firestarters and Hobostove fuel cells.

I guess that is all for now.

Michael J. They made many valid points, namely that Marijuana is still illegal even after many studies showing it should not be, because the drug enforcement crowd and the government( as well as banks and organized crime) make a ton of money on it. They also pointed out the reason is was made illegal in first place was because DuPont saw hemp as a threat to their new processes based on oil and coal. Farmers used to grow all fibre, food , medicine and fuel over a hundred years ago. The Big Oil boys have taken over everything to do with the farm and "Farmed " it out to the Pharm-a-cyst and factories, including food. Once Oil is not to be had, we will be forced to go back to the old ways. Hemp was a major player back then and it will be once more. Hemp has been written out of the history books the same way Tesla was. At the Smithsonian
Institute, all mention of hemp has been removed. The reason given was (maybe not exact quotes)" The children do not need to know about hemp; it will just confuse them" . That is just sick. How stupid do these people think our kids are? Sounds very "1984ish". Big Brother knows what is good for you and you can't argue against it if you do not know an alternative exists

That is my rant for today. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Michael J. You could see the anger on Mr. Harper' face when the president said it and got away with it. He kept his cool, but what are you going to do, make an international scene by correcting the president on his birthday? Summer gets like that. Here is a couple of update and then I think you may forgive me for not being around. 1) my house. My house is getting torn apart and put back together again. They have finished the bathroom and kitchen for the most part. They started on the roof today. I have new steel doors and a new electical system put in. They still have all the windows to do and the furnace. My house will be much safer and warmer, at the same time costing me less. I took my own advice about getting my house in order. 2) The CKOAP group is going to be showing a short movie about sustainable communities. 3) I have been very active on the Running on Empty yahoo groups. Peak Oil knowledge is spreading and information is being passed by word of mouth. I had my insurance agent over today. He had never heard of peak oil. I gave a 5 cent tour and broke it down ( It think ) quite well so he could "Get" it. I also told him about our showing of "The End Of Suburbia" at the Chatham library, 7:00 wed.May 31. I did not have to go too far in my examples, just told him about the world production of oil is at it's peak and the light crude is mostly gone and what is left is the heavier oil and the price is going to go up and up. I then told hom abot the 3000 mile salad where you go to a Toronto resturant and have lettuce that was grown in California and another part of the salad from florida and another part of it from another long distance place. He lives close to Toronto, so he got that part easily. I told him we would have to pay more for Coffee and Bananas since they can't grow here. I kept it simple and he got it. I did not overwhelm him with all kinds of numbers or charts. I also told him I was investing my money in upgrading my house. He said that was probably one of the wisest moves on my part. As went to leave, he made sure he had the name of the film writen down and he was going to look for it when he gets back, or he may show up at the library if he is still in town. If I can "Sell" Peak Oil to and insurance guy, anything is possible.

Michael J. I know what I have done works. for the other bits of information, I can not tell you to completely trust it, since I did not create it. What I scream is "Get Prepared NOW" just reading this information is a start, but if you have a head full of knowledge, but no practical experience you will end up with and empty belly , a cold house and "dirty" water. Of course read- all you can, but as important do. Can you make a fire without matches or a lighter? I can. It is a pain in the butt, yet I can do it. Have you looked into planing for diferent emergencies like Avian Flu? Do so now, don't wait for the government to do it for you. After all this research on Avian Flu, Peak Oil, Survivalism, Global Warming and Alternative Energy Sources, my conscious mind has a hard time shutting down. Last night was a perfect example. I went to bed at a reasonable time and could not get comfortable. I put up with a headache for a long time till I finally decided to take a painkiller. I still could not sleep and lay there for about an hour. I was disturbing my girlfriend’s sleep so I got up and decided to write.

Writing takes the chaos out of my mind and gets it down on paper or pixels. Recently I have been raving, taking events as I see them and taking them to their extreme logical conclusions. I do not like being the messenger of bad news. I don’t like my girlfriend calling me Mr. Joyful when I get talking about the stuff I have uncovered. I do not want to upset her yet I do want her to be mentally prepared for what I see coming. Here in Canada we have not had the same type of major yearly disasters (hurricanes, floods and fires) the States seem to get. When Quebec had a major ice storm, all of Canada helped out. Yes, the Government did some stuff, but not enough. Quebec did not have a plan in place for something like this and neither did the Feds. Governments can not act fast enough if they do not have the plans in place AND make sure that the public and the public servants know exactly what those plans are. The States fumbled the ball with New Orleans. The conspiracy mongers say that was done on purpose since the federal government down there was briefed. I do not know whom to believe, but Bush and Cheney have been caught in many lies already. You be the judge.

I read my own stuff and try to look at it like I was reading it from another person’s viewpoint. I am sure I have offended some people but that can’t be helped. Sometimes I feel I am reading a sleazy newsrag or science fiction. My views are not in line with what everyone else thinks. I can live with that.

Now what? What do I do to prepare? The short answer is everything I can within my means. I do not want the things I see to come true. Sometimes I hate being right. Right now (in the next few days) I will be testing a couple of MRE’s that are the same, but 3 years difference to see if there is a change of flavour or texture. According to what I have read, there should be no difference in nutrient value.

I would not mind getting a few boxes of MRE’s as a back up emergency food source when I get sick and tired of cooking the same meals. My higher priority is to get alfalfa seed to use for sprouting. Same with a few dozen kilos of raw sunflower seeds for sprouting and for other things. Peanut butter will still be a good thing to get (I am not allergic to peanuts), even if it turned rancid, I could use it as a fuel source or lubrication or feed it to my worms. The stuff that is cheap today will be the best trade goods tomorrow. I am building a solar water heater, a solar food dryer, a solar wax melter and a solar water distiller. I want to get a couple of drums from Larry next door to have as emergency fire burners. There s so much to do and so little time to do it. I need to get as much propane, Coleman fuel, pure alcohol and other fuels together this year. I need to make enough money to order another 100 pounds of bee’s wax. I need to do this and pay all my bills at the same time. I have some hope that one of my online ventures will pay off. I need to promote my portal more. The new site they created with all the programs, books and services for sales should be the next URL I promote. The URL is http://maximumheavytraffic.com/mibmy137

Michael J. In my last post I talked about E.W.E.'s (Extreme Weather Events). In past posts on this and my other blogs (myhemp, survival-list, moneyhowtogetsome, moneythebook, xchangesnumber1 - all blogspot.com like this one)I have talked about how peak oil is going to drive gas prices too far up and more wars will be faught over this resource. One thing I have not addressed to well(so far) is the next pandemic. At first people think-Avian Flu and they could possibly be correct. It does not have to be Avian Flu, it could be another type of flu. History has shown that the entire regions where decimated by waves of flu and plague with a certain regular cycle to them. According to those cycles we should have had a bad one last year or maybe this year. Now that world-wide travel is easier to do, the spread will be world-wide. Someone is going to hop a plane to get out of a region that is struck by it, to get away and in the meantime infects half the passengers and crew. The crew and the other passengers do not know they have it till they report to work that they are ill in a few days. All those people have spread to other points of the country spreading the illness as they go. Since some percentage of the population will be immune, they may be carriers. If the United States or Canada decided to close their border and patrol it A) the cost would be huge, B) they would still not be able to keep everyone out. We are simply too wide open. This region of Ontario where I live has alot of farms that import hired hands to pick crops and such. One of the migrant workers may bring it in. They are a multitude of ways for a flu bug to spread.

So what do you do? Prepare as best you can!. The Mormans have a standing policy of having a year or more supply of everything they need. If they shut themselves in for the few months to 18 months a bad pandemic could last, they would be one group who would survive. The rest of us will be lucky if we have more than a week's worth of food and maybe a couple of bottles of water. EEEENK ( insert sound of buzzer), Guess what- you are out of the game. In all the research I did for my book, everyone said you need a gallon( 4 litres) of water a day to drink, cook food, wash etc. That is per person and more if you have babies or pregnent mothers to look after. If you stayed indoors for 3 months or so, say 100 days that equals 100 gallons per person or 400 litres if I filled up every jug and the tub and sink, I think I could just barely make it.I would still need 3 months supply of meds, vitimins and food. I have a 3 month supply of vitamins and about that much or more in food, but my prescription meds I can only get a month at a time. Ok lets say you have 100 days worth of water, food and what not, what are you going to do with yourself for 3 months indoors? I will not be anywhere close to my girlfriend since she will be a frontline worker, if and when it breaks ( she works for public health). I have a large library of tapes and dvds I could go through. Lots of music besides. I have music instruments to play, a sewing machine to work on, silver wire and hemp twine to make jewelry with, about 50 pounds of bee's wax to make candles with and lots of books and magazines as well as the internet and TV to watch. I can do Tai Chi exersises to keep fit. Great. Now what happens if the electricity or gas shuts off because too many people running them get too sick to work? Right now I have a couple of small solar panels that could charge a battery long enough to charge my laptop. I may still be able to get online even if the power goes off, but it will not be for long periods. I have enough propane to last a few days if I used the grill in the garage to cook my meals and heat water for coffee and tea. I would use up any fuel for my camp stove, but I could not be able to heat my house. It would mean a cold winter covered in blankets and heavy clothes. It would mean not being able to wash my clothes. It would mean no shaving, who cares I am not going outside anyway. It would mean I would survive but just barely. I would have to have enough cash in the house to pay for my meds and phone them up to deliver them, putting the money in my mailbox and getting them to put the package in the mailbox also. I would have to get it with gloves on and a face mask and spray the bag with a bleach/water solution as well as the actual bottles. Garbage would have to be stored somehow. It is do-able for 3 months, but right now it is not do-able for any longer time period.

Can you see why my girlfriend is calling me Mr. Joyfull and Mr. Happy? This is enough to depress almost anyone. Don't shoot the messenger, instead plow that emotion into saving your own butt. The Government at all levels will be too overwhelmed all at once to help much. You must help yourself. I hope you pass this on to a friend or even an enemy ( if they work for public works or the gas company) the more you do now , the better off you will be later. Buy my book and read it. Go to www.mjk.private-income.com and get the book, "What Money Can't Buy". After you do that and pass to all your list of people, then do some of your own looking around on the net. There are too many sites for me to list but they are out they. Jusy google "prepared" or "avian flu" , something good will show up. Sorry this is so long, but the information is good. USE IT!
Michael J. Because CO2 stays in the atmosphere for about a century and the damage is cumulative, some are saying we are doomed. Period. End of story. Others like the writer of “The Weather Makers” says it is still scary, but we still have a window of opportunity to lessen the damage. They all say damage is going to be done.

Extreme Weather Events or E.W.E. as I call it, is what is going to do a lot of damage to buildings and crops, which is also going to do a lot of damage to humans and animals. Droughts, mudslides, floods, tornadoes and hurricanes are the most damaging but I predict strange weather will be even more damaging. The events I predict would be would be things like snowing in summer or a quick thaw in the winter and then a heavy rain that freezes everything. We are already protecting our skin from sunrays, but we will also have to protect ourselves from strong winds. The thin layer of soil that is productive for farming could be drastically lessened as well as the length of time for crops to grow. I know of one crop that does well in poor conditions- hemp!

The structures of our homes (those who survive) maybe built into the side of hills or mostly buried underground. The flimsy structures we now have will be battered and useless when electricity and fuel is no longer forthcoming. The ideal would be a large cave that could house animals joined to a smaller cave to house humans and having water running though it that can be tapped for electricity and a geo-thermal pump for moving water around. It would have to be close to a well-stocked pond and a small stand of trees. If you could drive a trailer into the human side of the cave, you could have a readymade housing solution. There are ways of creating something similar with two of those military buildings (looks like one half of an oil barrel cut lengthwise) or one long one with the animal pens in the back and the living quarters up front. With a slab of concrete with water pipes imbedded in it, you could heat the whole building with a wood stove or a stove made to burn methane made from the animal waste.

Those military structures Quonset huts) have been proven to withstand a lot of abuse and if you cover it over with dirt, it would just be a part of the landscape, so strong winds would just blow over it. The dirt would act like added insulation as a bonus. Solar panels could be set up on a movable cart so they can be set out every day to charge batteries but could also be dragged in quickly in case a storm comes up suddenly. Natural lighting could be brought in, but it would weaken the structure. I would prefer shuttered windows that bring in light from the front and back and using mirrors, move it to the middle. Making the whole inside surface shiny may achieve the same goal. You may be able to generate some electricity and move the heat and air around all at the same time. Fan blades that are mounted at the apex of the front and back may naturally draw in outside air into a duct, which moves it downward. In the middle of the building you would have a large wood stove you can cook on. You need a chimney so you would need to re-enforce the area where it sticks up. That will be one of your only weak points. I would also build a channel and a series of drains for condensation coming down the walls.

I’m getting into too many details of that structure I have in my head. The main thought is this. The structures we have will not last without the infrastructure we currently have in place. That infrastructure is going to be heavily taxed to the breaking point. Are humans going to survive? Yes. Will society as we know it survive? No!

In my book “What Money Can’t Buy” I was talking about how the loss of cheap oil is going to wreck our easy-going lifestyle. I will mourn its loss because of the beauty we have been able to make, since we have been far removed from the stresses of day-to-day survival. Survival takes a lot of time and effort. If you are busy just getting by, you have no time for the finer things in life.

I would not have time to write as much as I do, watch movies or read for pleasure. On that fun note I will end this article.

Michael J. Kaer,Owner of www.2bitpixel.com
Ps. This information is going into volume 2 of "What Money Can't Buy" . Since it was very cold out , It went from city hall to the local library and ended in the room we sometimes use for meetings. It is large enough to seat a bunch of people and give talks from the podium. They also showed a movie I could not stay for. The speaches were heart felt and showed the fire from within. It showed war is a nasty business that some people profit from at the expense of the innocent lives of civilians and the not so innocent lives of soldiers. Both groups are people and we all wish both sets did not need to die. The destruction of property and the chaos in people's live's are even higher prices in a sense, since the pain continues on and breeds hatred. Everyone know Bush is in it for oil. He is spending massive amounts of money and lives for it when , if the same amount of money and manpower went into finding alternative fuels and means to generate electricity, we would not have to worry about oil ever again. We would have that problem licked, and it would be one less thing to go to war over.

I think that is all I can say without going into a major rant and boring everyone reading this.

As John said, give peace a chance.

Michael J. I have been reading a ton (more) of material online and offline at bookstores and libraries. The more I look at it, the more I see Hydrogen as not the perfect solution, once I found out they are using fossil fuel to make the gas or for generating the electricity to crack the gas from water. I a perfect world, we would already have efficient solar panels and wind generators in place to crack the hydrogen from water. Since those technologies have been(untill recently)suffering from a lack or R&D funding. They are not mature enough to handle that load (yet). There is hope for the future.

I think the uses for hydrogen would be better put to use as a fuel to heat the home and fuel the car, or better yet, motor assisted bicycles for innercity traffic and concentrate on rail as the main form of travel on long distances. If each home had solar panels and/or wind generators and an area to create methane in a controled manner and they where still hooked to the grid that was itself running on green energy, each home could crack their own hydrogen from rain water.

That is too much to ask for right now. How about something simple like each community having a green energy station set up to provide our own electricity ( and hence hydrogen)that is run like the PUC. That would not be asking too much. That is doable right now. If we were intelligent about this, we would never have to go through another black out or brown out and we could sell any extra to the grid. Those revenues would be paid back to the community or set aside for upgrading. Either way our fuel and electrical cost would not fluctuate much and stable costs keep prosperity flowing. Stability and sustainabilty = prosperity. Anything else is exploitive.

The fluctuations in fuel prices is creating havoc with our economy and the world economy. This is a political side to the problem. Everything is intertwined. We need practical solutions NOW!
If not- the dire predictions of the end of our society as we know it, will come to pass. Read my book, then tell me if I am wrong. I am a big boy,I can take it. I would love to be proved wrong. I am not looking foreward to having to fend for myself. I must if I must, but I do not have to like it.
Michael.

Unprepared

At about 11:15 PM March 1,2006, I got a wake up call. It came in the form of a total power black out. Well not total, downtown had power, but one whole side of the city was in blackness. I ALWAYS keep a flashlight in my kitchen window. The trick is to walk in total darkness without killing yourself or knocking things over. Silly me forgot that I had a fully charged penlight close to the lightswitch in the computer-room.

I had a fully charged laptop I could write on and do some reading if I wanted. I had looked forward to a nice warm bed and a book, but that did not happen. I found a few other flashlights and took stock of what I had and what I needed to do. I checked the emergency jumpstarter. It had not been plugged in for some time, so it had almost no charge. I have a small solar panel in my window that keeps a charge on 2-12 volt batteries and I have an inverter to power anything that is under 600 watts. It was working fine. I looked around for my emergency windup radio/flashlight. I have two of them and I could not find either one. I think one is at my girlfriend's place in our camping equipment and the other is outside in my trailer. I had another small battery powered radio/flashlight that used to be attached to my bike. It's charged and working.
I have about 3 months worth of emergency food and enough water for up to a week. If this had been a "Bugout Scenario" I would not have had all my gear in one bag to grab. I have been working with my girlfriend to get her's ready since she would be on the frontlines in any disaster ( she works for public health). I got her a nice, compact windup radio as part of her birthday present. I like to get little odds and ends for her kit, and have been neglecting mine in the process. It is nice one of us will be fully prepared. I have gone through my bag and I know I need at least another pair of underwear and socks, maybe 2 more, they do not take up much room. I have no clothes in there and I have not updated all my ID or copies of my important papers. Other than that I am not in too bad a spot. With a little work over the next few days I can have most of my kit totally ready. I need to fill up my fanny pack as well. I need to choose just one extra book, something small but practical and it may have a few stories in it. Any suggestions? With that I will end this post.

Michael J. I had better have some solution or an alternative path for them to follow if I want my critique to be taken seriously. My pen is poised to write in as soon as the government tries to lower the GST twice. My first item would be to suggest they lower it to 5% directly in one fell swoop. The costs to business people would be major but to do it twice would be an extreme burden in just the paperwork alone. What mess have we gotten into now? Steven(the rookie)Harper is stuck with a minority government. He may not be able to make good an many of his election promises. Local business people are dealing with an increase in the minimum wage and if our new prime minister makes good on his promise to lower the GST, not once , but twice(Why do it in such a foolish and disruptive manner? Does he know how much it will cost for these changes? Will the feds fund the changes?), business people will have to do a huge amount more paperwork.Harper is a politician. Paperwork is the only kind of work he knows. What he did before politics is what will make or break his career. Politics is about hashing out policies. Policies are guidelines, promises and contracts with and for the people.I wish him luck, because he is going to need it. I pray for Canada.
Ps. I wrote 2 articles that were on the same type of subject and just cut and pasted them, so if it sounds a little disjointed, that is the reason why.

Michael J. It is not easy being Green. The only good I can see out of a Conservative minority is Steven has to learn to play nice in the big playground if he wants to get anything done. The other good thing is the NDP picked up a good number of seats and they have been putting forth an effort to be more "Green". They draw the line when jobs are on the line. I understand that. I don't have to like it, but I understand that. I have a lot of friends who said the decided to vote at the last moment for the NDP in a bid to stop Harper from getting a majority and to send a message to the liberals that they are fed up with corruption. I also understand that.

Locally our Green candidate worked closely with the NDP candidate, even to the point of setting up her website ( and ours) and they were founding members (including me and a bunch of others who were there) to start the C.A.R.E. group, an environmental group that is a kind of umbrella organization for smaller local groups and individuals. I hope Kathleen gave Jack alot to think about when he passed through here.

I am still disapointed. I was hopeing for at least one green to get in. Now the big dogs in the media can continue to manipulate the vote by excluding us (again- shame on them!). My question is why are they afraid of the green party, that they would go to such extremes to keep us out? I never voted for them, yet they hold tremendous sway over who gets elected and who does not. That is abuse of power. They are corrupt! Why is no one going to look into to that pile of crap. None of the other parties want to look into it because they are afraid as well. I would dare Jack Layton to stand up for democracy or any of the other party leaders for that matter and have it looked into.

Michael J. From what I have been hearing from him and the candidates running under his flag, we would be putting on the slinky underwear and giving "come hither" looks the night the election was over. His ideas, if you can call them that, would have us fighting an unjust and immoral war, just to be buddies with Bush.

Cracking down on guns will be as futile as the whole gun registry is. It make perfect sense to legalise a relatively harmless drug like pot, rather than keep it illegal and filling our justice system and wasting good taxpayer's money on a bunch of potheads. In Holland and Danmark they have a system of legalisation that for the most part works and crime is not a huge factor. When an addict can get their drug for free or cheaply they will not steal or beat up you up to get it. At the same time they have a system to help those addicts if they want it. For the person who has a friendly toke at a party or uses it like a businessman uses a cocktail after a long day at work, should they be tossed in jail and waste the time (and money) of several cops and the justice system? That time and money could be better spent getting the hard drugs and guns off the street.

Lets think this through a little harder, eh Mr. Harper.

Michael J. Hope you had a great Christmas or winter holidays, whatever is appropriate. The new year is almost upon us (unless you are Asian and go by that calendar)and it also is going to be my birthday Dec. 31. I will be turning 44. I am looking forward to a new and exciting year.

One of my goals this year was to research and write a book and then get it into a .PDF format and upload it to one of my websites for sale.
I wrote about 2005 as the (arguably)year of Peak Oil and the chaos that will cause. As I was writing I saw my predictions coming true faster than I anticipated. "Bucky" Fuller talked about a time when man needed to wean himself off oil and find a renewable fuel like Hydrogen or hempseed gasoline. My book called "What Money Can't Buy" is about how to prepare for the coming hard times and thrive. The main thing I shout from the book is START NOW!!! I hope things do not go the way I see, but if it does, some prep work now will help you go further. It is about survival and gathering as much knowledge and resources to deal with the stress ahead.

If you want a copy, go to www.MJK-Private-Income.com and grab one for the low price of $10 Canadian.

I have had other goals like getting closer to my family and being more creative and getting more comfortable with my girlfriend. In many ways those goals came true.

What goals did you set and did you achieve them? What goals do have for 2006? Let us all know by leaving a comment here.

One goal for next year for myself is to get my house fixed up. It will be a major undertaking, but it will be worth it. My other goal is to see at least one Green party MP. The boxingday shooting is a political hotspot as well as a national tragedy during a winter election. I don't want talk anymore about it. I guess that is all for now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Michael J. The Green Party of Canada is ready to step up to the plate and take a swing at bat. We are due. Unfortunately a few people (5 to be exact, the owners of the cable companies and other media)are deciding for the good of all the taxpayers (who are now funding the Green Party since we long passed the 2% threshhold and we get a certain amount of money for each vote we take in, just like the other parties do) and yet cannot present their platform before the public. Do these 5 mini-gods think the know what is right for me? Did I vote for them to represent my interests? NO!!! Do I believe they are purposely manipulating the media so it looks like only 3 main parties ( and the bloc) are running. Hell yes!!! My questions is "Why?" what do they have to gain (or lose) by allowing Jim Harris his rightful place as a leader of a national party( with candidates in every riding)to have his say beside the other national leaders?

As a citizen, I demand , as my right, the ability to hear ALL sides of a debate before I cast my vote. When we(the Green Party) get some seats this time around, they will be forced to listen to an alternative. Is that what everybody is afraid of? I don't hear the other party leaders speaking up on such a crutial issue as a voters right to hear all sides. They are afraid of the Green Party. That is the only conclusion I can logically come up with.

If I were the other parties I would throw all my resources at B.C. since it is almost a sure thing we will be getting a few seats from that province. You want to squash us, it will have to cost you alot more money and a lot more time and effort this time. All we need is one seat. You know the Green party is helping out the strongest candidates. You know we are going to win. The big parties have to get "X" number of seats, we only need to get one to make our point, THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHUT US UP!

That is my rant for today.

Michael J. I have not seen the Green party represented at all, that in spite of running candidates in EVERY riding. What that amounts to is the CBC stealing my rights as a voter to COMPLETE information about all the parties. The Green party has almost as much support as the NDP party and in several ridings in past elections actually had more support than the NDP. If the Green party does not get a seat it would be because a group of 5 people who control media in this country does not want them in. My question is WHY? Why has the leader of the Green party, Jim Harris, not be allowed to debate with the "Big Dogs"? Are these 5 media dictators not interested in the environment? Are they strongly connected to the big companies who are doing the most damage? Are they afraid that Jim would blow all the other parties away in a debate? I personally know the local Green candidate(Ken) and the local NDP candidate (Kathleen), both great people, both dedicated to the environment. I have not seen the reps from the other parties show up for earthday cleanups and CARE meetings(CARE is a local group of citizens for the environment). Because so many people are pissed off with the government of the day and some are downright afraid for their lives if Harper gets in(source is a letter to the editor of in Chatham this week volume15, issue 37, Dec), they just may vote for the Green party. I will be up front about my political ideas. I am a "Anyone but Harper" voter. I will vote for my friend Ken Bell because I know his heart and soul is Green. It will be tough not voting for Kathleen because she is a good person too. Yes I am biased. I like to be able to eat the fish I catch, breathe clean air, drink clean water and not get cancer because the businesses that will prosper will be the ones who do not dump poison under a Green government. I am also for having more money in my pocket, which would also happen under a Green government.

I noticed the NDP environmental platform looks very much like the Green Party's; you would swear they where going to the Green party website and looking at the Green policies to see what will help them get voted in. I do not care who steals the Green policies as long as they are implemented.

After the "so called" news I watched ZED and decided to get writing this blog as it was playing. They talked about the importance Blogs have in the world of news media. I get a few hits to this site, but I hope my message gets to more people as time goes on. I may be biased, but I am passionate about the subjects I write about.

Michael J. This is the time of year where my bones ache, but I am kept busy massaging other peoples aching bones. Why would the folks in Power even hint at calling an election now? The blues have a ton of money they are eager to spend to buy their way into power, the Reds do not have as much money , but they have the weight of incumbancy in their favour, the Oranges don't have much money to fight at this time, since most of their base are the working class and the Greens never have had tons of money to waste.

The Green Party is all for having regularly called elections so this type of thing does not happen. The parties that can afford paid staff and paid fundraisers have an advantage the smaller parties that rely on a grassroots, volunteer organization do not. Us Greens are a cheap lot. We do not spend money where we do not need to. I have heard of many people running on budgets that are pitifully small, that still have a good showing, because their platform was correct. You can't get a better platform than the Green party has. I have looked. I have not found anything that is even close to being as well thought out and universal as the 10 key values that are the platform for all Greens around the world. The other unique feature of the Green Party is it is world wide. All other parties that I know of are nationally based except for maybe the communist party or the Marijuana party. If you can think of others, let me know.
The Marijuana Party is a single issue party, so once their issue is taken care of they should disband. Communism has taken a beating everywhere in the world so that seems to be a flogging a dead horse. There are liberal and conservative parties in other countries but they do not all adhere to the same principals from nation to nation. So, I still feel the Green Party is unique.

I say call the whole thing off till spring. If you want the voters to turn out that would be a better time to do it.

Michael J. It is an honour to be choosen and the other Greens seemed to like my ideas (strange as they may be). We talked about vermiculture (raising worms) during supper and breaks and no one was grossed out.
I talked alot about hemp and this wonder-weed's many uses. We talked policy and the fact that the other political parties steal our policies and impliment them to look good to the voter. We are being consulted by the big dogs in power on how "they" can get "greener". We don't really care if our ideas are stolen because that means they are being used. HURRAH! for everyone. I saw our job as making the very best policy we could think of so it could be stolen and used. It was alot of work but we all pulled together and got a ton of policies passed. You may hear of our Youth inititive and the media coverage arround it. Worms, by their very natre a good at doing a few things eat, excrete castings and reproduce. When I look at a bunch of rotten fruit or grass clippings, I don't see a mess to clean up or garbage to be disposed of, I see worm food! Since I have been doing research for my book "What Money Can't Buy" I have been looking at all the gifts I have that money can't buy, which makes me richer than the a millionare that has all their money tied up in a stock market that can crash at any time. I have a wealth of Ideas that I can turn into money and the side businesses like my little worm farm continue to grow with very little help from me.
I could take time off and the worms will still be making more worms. Now that they are in one large bin ( an old freezer) I have cut down my work load and only have to pop the lid and dump some food in every once in a while. It is getting cold so the worms will be slowing down for the winter, but I will be in a great position in the spring to be selling my worms in bulk since I have about 10,000 of them. If I got $2.00/20 worms or 10 cents a worm That makes my little hobby worth about $1000.00 . Next year it could get up to being worth $5000.00. Not bad for $100.00 investment and some time and getting rid of organic garbage instead of it going to a dump.
Considering that is just one small hobby , It shows I am on the path to great wealth and I am proving the affirmation true. May all your endevours be prosperous.
Michael J. To prosper means to grow, to increase. I grow when I help other people grow. A good example is the fact that I was handed a large chunk of cash so I could attend a political gathering and act as a delegate for my riding. I prosper immediately by haveing a lot of cash handed to me and I will enjoy this bit of work I take on, and the person(s)handing me the cash will know I will do all I can to voice their specific concerns to the larger group.
Another good example is telling all my friends about a new shop now open that has my Silver Jewelery, Bee's Wax Candles and Drums for sale. The shop sells hemp clothing and hemp jewelery so I make money on my sales and Shannon makes a commission and make sales from the customers I send her. I put the blame squarely where it belongs, on us. Our combined laziness, complacency and shortsightedness has tied our economy and our society to one fuel source. That is just dumb. Having done a ton of research for my new book "What Money Can't Buy" ( coming soon) I have seen a growing concern for the environment and a willingness to embrace alternative fuels, at least the common person is; big oil and others do not. They have invested most or all of their money in oil and do not want anything getting in the way of their profits. The U.S. is fighting a trumpped up war in Iraq just for oil, no other reason. Why do you think the U.N. would not go along with them on this scheme? They could see it was just the U.S. protecting it's own interests.
Many people will be angry at me for saying such things, but I have eyes to look at this from a Canadian perspective. I am as objective about it as a Green Party member can be. Yes, I admit to my bias's; that is the only honest way of letting those who read my articles, blogs and books know where I am coming from. I am also a fan of Michael Moore. I don't believe everything he says and I think about what he puts forth in his documentaries. That puts me in a catagory of someone who agrees with him, thus getting me on many people's shit-list. I don't care! I am a free person and part of that freedom is the ability to think for myself. Anyone who puts me on their shit-list should be prepared for a good debate on many subjects. I feel like I am the busiest of the bunch. Every weekend is packed with things that have to be done IMMEDIATELY. I had a groundhog take up residence under my house. It took me a month to get rid of him. We (my girlfriend and I) have several family gatherings, weddings and social events to host and show up for. We have to also make sure things like getting the lawns cut and watering the plants and gardens gets done. A couple looking after two places is crazy, but we are forced into this situation because I am on a disability pension and my medical costs are more than what I live on for everything else. If I moved I with her, my pension would be slashed or totally cut off. We cannot afford that.
I have an inspector coming over later today to look at my house to see what needs to be done to it. I am working on the foundation and wrapped the pipes in insulation over top of a heating cord. My pipes will not freeze as long as my electricity runs. At the same time I am finishing up a book I started writing this year. I have some post production work to be done on it before it will be available to the public. Meanwhile my girlfriend is holding a full time job and I am self-employed online and off. I work two days a week (if you can call giving Tarot card readings and seated massages work? More like play!) at a local old book store. He also sells antiques, so it is a shop I can spend hours in and not get bored.
At the same time I have some of my bee’s wax candles, Sterling Silver jewelry I make and my drums selling at another local shop. I have to make more of a certain size candle and the only time I can do it is when it is nice outside. I also have some plans for more interesting silver items.
My girlfriend and I help a friend when he does an auction. I am the muscle and she does the books and takes the money. We had to turn down two jobs because we will be at weddings both days. We will be helping him another day in the fall. We have only one Saturday this month to have a yardsale I have to take a day off of my work for both weddings, so I need to make up that lost income somewhere.
I am raising Worms for organic gardeners or to be used for bait or feeding exotic animals. That does not take up a lot of my time, thank God. We like to go dancing and fishing and we do both as often as we can. I got stuck cleaning sixteen fish because she had to work the next day.
This must be the year of the Rabbit- GO, go, go!
Michael J. OOps did I say cutting the lawn? I meditate while doing mundane tasks so YES I even enjoy cutting the grass. I get a feeling of satisfaction when it is done.

Another thing has been keeping me busy and it is too bad it happened during the summer. I am writing another book. It is not something I love doing and it takes alot of my mind-space till I get it down . The research alone is taking a large fraction of my writing time. What is the book about you ask? It is called "What Money Can't Buy" and it is about the time of chaos ahead when we run out of oil. Bucky Fuller predicted that we will switch from a petro-chemical economy over to a hydrogen based one, but in my book that is not going to be an easy thing. I have been reading a ton of websites about survival and the new order of things. With our addiction to Big Oil comes a price to pay. As every addict knows on a personal level, when it turns on you, you go on to the bitter ends(Jails, institutions or death) or you quit the addiction. You can taper off slowly and it will not hurt as much, or you can quit cold turkey.

It is the same on a macro-scale with the entire world clamouring for the exessive lifestyle the west has enjoyed for a long time. Cheap oil made that possible. The time to switch is now, while we still have some of the black stuff still in the ground.

I have paid a personal price for my beliefs. So far I have found ways to get though life without having my licence or owning a car. I have had my beginners several times and I can drive, I just choose not to. The closer they come to perfecting the hydrogen car, the more I think of finally getting my full licence.

I have to keep this rant to a minimum, since this is eating into my research time. I will let you all know how the book is coming and when I will have a copy ready for proofing. Any volunteers to proof this book? Drop me a line at my email and I will put you on my proofing list. It's michaelkaer@yahoo.ca .
Enjoy the summer. Michael J. FREEDOM! No longer do I "Haveto" plug in to a wall jack and limit my movements to how far my cord/chain will let me move. There are costs and limitations however. Since it costs money to set up a "hot spot" that investmant needs to be recaptured.

A case in point, while waiting to get on my train at Union Station in Toronto, I had a choice of 3 "hot spots" to login through. 2 of them asked me for money up front, the third did not. Of course I went with the choice of not paying. I managed to access my email and do some work which otherwise would have been wasted time.

There are several reasons why I did not pay for the service.
1) I don't pay for a service if I can get it for free(I'm cheap)
2) One option was to pay a $34.00 subscription for a month, but I will not be back in Toronto, so that would have been wasted money.
3)The time it would have taken me to signup for the service would have taken all the time I had to use.

I feel a model such as the second cup Access Points that offer advertising would work much better in the situation I was in. I would be willing to look at a few ads in order to get the service. The login is simple and now Second Cup has me somewhere in their database as a customer, capturing my name and email address.

Hotels are going wireless. If I wanted to, I could have plugged in through my emergency dial-up account (interhop has a local Toronto number as well as local numbers all over Ontario) and I would have to pay the 95 cent fee for making a local call. It would have been a slower connection and the bottleneck of going through the modem would have slowed down the work I was doing. With a wireless account as part of the hotel's "Perks" I would always choose to stay at a hotel that offers it over one that did not.

Freedom has a price but it does not have to be too high.

Michael J. The fact that worms eat their way through soil, creating tunnels for air and water to get into, make them the most valuable addition you can add to your garden or flowerbox. They eat almost their weight in food every day. They never harm living matter. They are bi-sexual and need an
other worm to reproduce. As long as the food supply is good they will reproduce alot. last year I started with a pound of worms (about 1000) as my breeding stock. I now have 2.5 bins full of worms. I estimate about 5000-7000 worms in those bins.

My girlfriend has been saving her compost stuff to feed them and I have been putting my food scraps and coffee grounds to good use. I have been slowing down on feeding them during the winter because I don't have the room to let them expand too quickly. I have 4 more bins I have to convert over then I will be ready to start splitting up the stock, I'm just waiting for the weather to get warmmer.

Since both my girlfriend and I are avid fisherpeople, we will have all the bait we need. My girlfriend is also a great gardener. Since she has given up her compost scraps, I am going to give her most of my worm castings and worm tea.

What is worm tea you ask? When I make the bins I drill tiny holes in the bottom to help it drain and to add air to the soil. When the worms consume the rotten matter, there is a lot of liquids released. It flows out the bottem of the bin and I collect it in recycled orange juice containers. this liquid is highly sought after by gardeners who want to add nateral fertilizers to the soil. From what I have read, it is too strong to add directly and needs to be diluted. I have not had enough to experiment with to see what the dilution factor would be. I will have to do more research on that. Worm tea looks like strong tea and it has almost no smell.

I am suprised that there is very little smell coming from the bins. Since I don't have my garage set up to house the worms through the winter, I have them under the kithen table. I have an old freezer I am going to convert. I may be able to get away with leaving them in there, if I find a few bales of straw to put around it.

As bait the type of worms I am raising(Red Wigglers) are known to stay alive along time on the hook, attracting more fish. They are smaller that the big Night Crawlers, but they are livelier. Since they are related to manure worms, they don't get illnesses bunched up in clumps like some other worms do. Since they are hand fed they are are tasier to the fish. I have tried a few last year compared to the big dew worms I dug up in my garden. The Reds did better.

Ants and other insects are their enemies. The ants can attack and they steal their food supply. I will have a longer list when I have read up on it more.

I will be selling them for bait , a bakers dozen for $1.50 -$2.00, depending on the local trade. This year I will not have enough to sell pounds or 1/2 pounds, but I will next year if all goes well.

By getting the word out that worms are good for your soil and good for the environment, I will be promoting a good cause and make ethical money doing it. that is a win-win situation.

So ... how about some worms?

Michael J. Since I bought this at the same time as I bought a new laptop and flatscreen and was just going to whip out my visa to pay for it, the salesman talked me into getting a card for the unnamed store. Basically I get to use their money for a full year with no interest. Right there I figured I saved alot of money I would have had on my Visa. Secondly IF I pay this off in the year and then cancel the card, I pay no interest. The trick is to have the disipline to make those monthly payments when you don't "Have To". I could start right now by asking for a donation from you good people to help me keep my promise to myself. Feel free to give any amount that makes you feel good to paypal in care of b4kaerbear@hotmail.com . That is the crux of the matter, the little folk getting squeezed for a few pennies or dollars each to pay some bloated mess called Ontario Hydro or any other scam. That is the way all these scams I have seen work. They prey on the little folk, who are just trying to keep their head above water or get ahead a little.

I have been phished, but got off the hook of a paypal scam lately. We all have had at least one of the variations of the "huge amount of money needs to leave the country and you get a split of it" scam, come into our mailbox. My junk mail gets them all the time. The variations are just bizzare! There is one that has a lot of people including me pissed off. I am talking about the pay to read site Orion-mails and the others just like them. I was not stupid enough to think that I would get $200.00 per email I read. That is just dumb. I thought maybe it was some fraction that I would get. Guess what!!!... they did not pay me a cent, nor would they reply to any of my emails. I look at that as a learning experience. I have since given up on making any money in any real amount from any Pay to read site. The ones that are honest are only paying pennies. My time is worth more.

There are more sites out there that promise the world but all your efforts come to naught. I have not totally given up on making money by selling other peoples products, but I have come to the conclusion I can only really make good money selling things I produced or services I provide.

In that vein I expect my worm farming business to do well( I grow Red wigglers and sell them for bait or for vermaculture). I make $20.00 an hour when I fix someones computer or create a webpage for them. I charge the same amount when I teach my students how to hand drum. I make that amount for 20 minutes of my time when I give a massage or give a full Tarot card reading. I have a site set up to do readings online/offline. They ask their questions, pay me with paypal and then I do the reading offline, write a report and I send it back to their email address. I sell my bee's wax candles and my silver jewelry on ebay and out of local stores. I can get by with the income I have but I want to do more. In order to do more I have to have all my bills taken care of and have the extra money to invest in my multiple talents. Often that means buying tools or raw materials. As a musician ( with a portable recording studio) I can whip out a ton of cds, cheaply. There is always some way to make a buck (honestly).

I consider the huge amount of time I spend online part of my education and an investment in myself. I expect the various programs and businesses I have joined will pay off. Some will fall through, but one or two will really take off. I once was making over $5,000.00 a month as an herbalife distributor. I hated having to go to all those meetings and make the thousands of phonecalls. It was hard work. I see the new distributer does it all online. Cool.

To end this section, I want to part with an offer to you to reply to me with your experiences, good and bad. What scams stung you? What programs out there are really working? I will post your replies in a future blog.
Michael.

Michael's got worms!

I told my Dad "I,ve got Worms!" and he said "you better go see a doctor about that" (Ba dum dum)

The worms I am talking about cost me $45.00 plus shipping per pound(Canadian funds). "Red Wigglers" are the usual name for them. They make great bait worms since they last a long time on the hook and move around alot, attracting the fish. The other great thing about these little critters is the fact that they eat and breed like crazy. They eat their own weight in veggie leftovers (peellings and such) in a day or so, depending on the proper conditions.

I have 2.5 bins in my house, just waiting for the season to warm up so I can take them back outside. I figure I have about 2 pounds of worms or more per bin and I have a few more empty bins to transfer them too. I have to still do all the work on the bins ( drilling small holes in the side to allow air in and a bunch of small holes in the bottom to let "Worm tea" out). Aside from drilling the holes and adding rocks, paper, sticks and soil for the worms to grown in, I don't have to do much work. I feed them only once every few days during the winter( I don't want to over populate the bins, so I keep them hungry), but once winter is over they get to eat and grow as much as they want.

I do not just sell the worms for bait. They sometimes are bought for feeding live animals that like worms and as a soil additive to pot bound houseplants. Add a few worms to your soil around plants and the plants will love you for it. Another thing plants love is "Worm tea". I don't know if you use it full strength or cut it with water ( I need to do more reading on it) but the liquid that comes out the bottom of the bins are high in nutrients. The other item you get from the worms is the worm castings (basically worm manure).

When you open the bin to transfer and separate some of the worms for sale, you also put the liquid in plastic jugs ( I use recycled orange juice containers), take out the rich composted soil and find as many babies as possible. Move the babies to a bin of their own. Bag the soil for your garden or for sale. Pour every thing else into a clean wheelbarrow to sort out the older worms you did not get the first time and remove the big rocks and such you use on the bottom. I also have a double layer of fine mesh on the bottom to keep the worms from escaping though the draining holes. That would not be a problem if you keep the bin clean, balanced and healthy. Worms tend to stay put if they are well cared for. Wash out the bin, replace the mesh and large stones and put new paper and fresh soil in, add worms and something for them to munch on and you are back in business.

To send live worms in the mail you can put them in a paperbag filled with moist peatmoss and the put that inside a cardboard box with big stickers that say "live worms" and suggest it be kept cool and dark. Make sure the box has holes punched in it or your live worms will not not be when they arrive.

I just looked at how big this blog is getting so I am going to cut myself off here. Worms and worm farming are big business, not to mention fun. Send me an email with questions or send a comment and I will respond. I was told that I had to go to ebay and log in to verify my ebay account because someone was using my account fraudulantly. Here is the address they wanted me to go to http://scgi.ebay.com/verify_id=ebay&fraud alert idcode=95412563 . First off I thought it was fishy since I belong to Ebay.ca not dot.com. Then I opened it up to view the source code. I saw some stuff in there that looked really "Icky" as my girlfriend said. The third tip off is the fact that it was going to a http:// rather than a https:// .

I was warned several times from several sources (fellow internet marketers and ebay itself)about phishing. I thank god I took 10 minutes out of my busy work time to read those notices. I suppose I am doing my civic duty by informing you using this media, and I hope none of you get hooked in their scheme.

on another note I noticed that I am not getting as much money from my affiliate sites as I thought I should. I have a program that can shorten and hide my affiliate links so no one can steal from me. I think it is a sad state of affairs in the world that some bad, lazy scum resort to stealing from others rather than just put the same or less amount of work into just working the different opportunities available for themselves. It is not rocket science. If you keep stealing from people (like the leach you are) the person is going to die (stop doing business on the net). Of course there are always more suckers going on online every day.

This is one price for freedom and free enterprise;being every carefull. Good luck out there, the phishers have big nets. I just cut a hole in one of their nets and got away and told other fish where the hole is. If we all look after each other, the guttless cowards would have to rob the traditional way, mugging or at the point of a gun. Here endth my rant for today! I went to the Dollar store and got 5 small note pads and I am re-writing the information I have in the larger note pads. One pad will just be all the refer URLs I have that I am promoting and thinking of promoting. The next pad is for a list of affiliate sites I am hooked up with, my Id's & password for each and the URL's associated with each one. Going through one page in the big pad, I can count 18 plus 4 money accounts and Id's to go with them. There are more strewn throughout the pages. Another note book will house just my traffic exchanges. I have about 10 or so I use on a regular basis. With that I will use their banners to create a simple webpage promoting all the traffic exchanges I use and the reasons why I like those ones.

(pause for paws)Verbal just jumped up in my lap while I am trying to work . On a regular basis I have a hairy little girl do a lap dance on me and lick my fingers. I am so glad my girlfriend is not jealous! The kitty is just out of kitten stage and is almost a full grown cat. I am trying to teach her not to beg, so I shared some of my yogurt and some bacon in her dish, while I had some on my plate. She is pure white like her mother except for a dusty patch of grey-black on her head. She is a wild cat who flees outside every once in a while, no matter what the weather. I just hope she does not get knocked up by the local toms, before I have a chance to take to the vet and get her fixed.
Back to work(slower though)
The big note book that has 300 pages will house all the incoming data I collect from my 3Q4U page( my Tarot reading page). Bit by bit I am getting better organized. I have to with the shear number of projects I have on the go.
Speaking of projects... I have one off line, my drum circle, that I am looking to house during the winter. We have grown too large to do it at any one person's house. We can do it in people's back yards ( mine holds 100 people) during the summer, so it is just the winter I have to worry about. Ken Bell and I will probably do another Drumfest this year, but we will have to charge an addmission or pass the hat or something, since we want to book a large barn at a local campground.
Verbal is purring loudly at my feet and all is right with the world. This is a perfect place to end this section of the blog. I have been learning and playing with electronics since I was a wee lad. I learned basic programing when they were still using PUNCH CARDS!! (Boy, I feel old). In College ( the first time) The P.E.T. computer was brand new. we managed to get it to perform tricks using a TAPE DRIVE (this was before floppy disks and regular hard drives as we know them). We had it hooked up to a silent sam (which was not so silent) dot-matrix printer. I had a programmable Calculator which I programmed to roll dice( it had a random number generator in it). High tech stuff, eh?

I now own a large screen tv that I don't have time to watch, a killer sound system ( I am also a musician), which I can't crank past 3 because the windows start rattleing and that sets off the alarm. I have portable , digital 10 track music studio with built in drum and effects that can burn a demo cd on the spot. I don't have time to produce my own music since I am on this bloody computer about 50 hours a week. My girlfriend complains and is worried about eyestrain and carpel-tunnel. I am just starting to make money hand-over-fist with all the programs & businesses I am in. I get paid a dollar a minute when I give Massages ( oh, did I forget to tell you I am also a Certified Reflexologist and Relaxation therapist?) as well as the same amount when I give Tarot Readings (oops, I forgot to tell you I teach Tarot as well and give readings on and off line). If this does not keep me busy enough I am am about go WAY overboard and offer the following service.

My service... I am willing to try out any alpha- paid for programs ( no buggy betas or shareware please), read any paid for ebooks and try out new electronic gadgets (laptops, pda's, cell phones, webcams, digital cameras...) and write up an honest review for each item. My fee is I get to keep the program, book or gadget. The cost to you is postage for a cd or parcel one way. If there is a setup fee for the phone or what have you, you would have to pay for that, but you get to write it all off as a business expense. R&D in marketing is often as expensive as createing the actual prototype. All programs sent to me will undergo a battery of several Antivirus, spyware and trojan remover programs before they get on my system.

For the frugal programmers and ebook creators out there that do not want to send me a cd, they can send me the download link for the finshed product plus all the unlock codes (which could be sent to my email address). Well how about it?

I ask -please do not send gameboys or xboxes and such. I don't have that much time to waste on games. I know several gamers willing to perform the same service for the same fee. If you want me to set you up, I will see what I can do. I will play games on the new smartphones strictly for the purpose of review, but that is where I draw the line.
Contact me at michaelkaer@yahoo.ca with the words "new service" or "service me" or some such in the subject line so I know not to delete it out of my junk box.
Happy blogging. I took out her email address and added one of my sig files at the end. That is all I have done to change this.

linda wong wrote: Hi Michael:
How do you promote SFI?
Thanks, Linda

Hello linda. I have a "mega-site" I promote(at www.kaerenterprises.com) that has direct links to SFI and other programs I am affiliated. Next I have the promotional URLs loaded into several traffic exchanges that I furiously click on for 4 days of the week. They go to the SFI site directly and to the megasite. then I have list dot com that I pay to be a diamond member. That is the pricy promotion, but I get to email safely to 5000 members every 2 days. Since I am promoting the SFI opportunity specifically as well as the mega site, I have been getting signups for many of the programs. Next I use webspawner to create a small, simple page and promote that which has links to the other sites making the other sites look larger to the search engine spiders. I also am just starting a blog, one for what I call the Kaer Package that has links that promote the megasite and the other called 3Q4U that promotes my Tarot readings , where I send replies and my sig file has links to several of my sites. The last place is writing articles and offering them for free to other sites that has my sig file that promotes my other programs. A minor source would be when I logon to any forum, newsgroup or even chatroom, I have a chance to say who I am and what I do. I don't know how well that promotes me, but it can not hurt. I am seen as an expert on Tarot since I teach it and on other subjects like drumming and massage since I have been doing those things for soooooo looooooong. I have written several small booklets and when I put them online for sale they will have links in themto the megasite and specific programs. I may write an article talking about health and nutrition and talk about the liquid vitamins Veruni puts out( my Girlfriend does not like the taste, but agrees that it is an easier way of taking vitamins). Or I may write about the health aspects of drumming and tie in the products I use. there are a hundred ways of promoting. Heck I could use this reply as the basis of an article on the art of promoting. and link my sites to it. Use your imagination. Michael. Michael J. I just added an RSS feed to Kaer Enterprises so that will also increase my rating on the search engines. I have to log off now and get working on my old website On The Spot Massage. I am getting it ready to transfer over to a new home(parked beside Kaer Enterprises actually)( the server allows a whole other site to be transferred for the cost of an extra $5.00 a month. Since that is about the same amount I am paying for the old site I may as well move everything over. I will do one last go-over at the other site to see if they are offering a better deal than I think. In any case half the website has missing links that I have to restore or take out. Isn't HTML fun!) The virus hit my computer like a ton of bricks. Even with Anti-virus software running I was wrong to open an email I was not sure of. I thought I knew who it was from, but.... When you get rushing and you have a couple hundred emails to slog through, a mistake is easy to make. I was forced to wipe the hard drive, losing everything on it. I had a recent back up of some items, but it was not complete and a few weeks old, so my recent stuff was gone- POOF! I had started a blog called Michael's Kaer Package that would include several of my articles I have published and some inserts from the booklets I have written as well as some of my day -to -day musings. I have more work to do, so I will come back to this later.
