Scams in general
Hello fellow bloggers.
Having just been informed that our provincial minister is about to raise the base rate for electricity in Ontario, I have been thinking of things I have tried to make extra money over the last year. That is the crux of the matter, the little folk getting squeezed for a few pennies or dollars each to pay some bloated mess called Ontario Hydro or any other scam. That is the way all these scams I have seen work. They prey on the little folk, who are just trying to keep their head above water or get ahead a little.
I have been phished, but got off the hook of a paypal scam lately. We all have had at least one of the variations of the "huge amount of money needs to leave the country and you get a split of it" scam, come into our mailbox. My junk mail gets them all the time. The variations are just bizzare! There is one that has a lot of people including me pissed off. I am talking about the pay to read site Orion-mails and the others just like them. I was not stupid enough to think that I would get $200.00 per email I read. That is just dumb. I thought maybe it was some fraction that I would get. Guess what!!!... they did not pay me a cent, nor would they reply to any of my emails. I look at that as a learning experience. I have since given up on making any money in any real amount from any Pay to read site. The ones that are honest are only paying pennies. My time is worth more.
There are more sites out there that promise the world but all your efforts come to naught. I have not totally given up on making money by selling other peoples products, but I have come to the conclusion I can only really make good money selling things I produced or services I provide.
In that vein I expect my worm farming business to do well( I grow Red wigglers and sell them for bait or for vermaculture). I make $20.00 an hour when I fix someones computer or create a webpage for them. I charge the same amount when I teach my students how to hand drum. I make that amount for 20 minutes of my time when I give a massage or give a full Tarot card reading. I have a site set up to do readings online/offline. They ask their questions, pay me with paypal and then I do the reading offline, write a report and I send it back to their email address. I sell my bee's wax candles and my silver jewelry on ebay and out of local stores. I can get by with the income I have but I want to do more. In order to do more I have to have all my bills taken care of and have the extra money to invest in my multiple talents. Often that means buying tools or raw materials. As a musician ( with a portable recording studio) I can whip out a ton of cds, cheaply. There is always some way to make a buck (honestly).
I consider the huge amount of time I spend online part of my education and an investment in myself. I expect the various programs and businesses I have joined will pay off. Some will fall through, but one or two will really take off. I once was making over $5,000.00 a month as an herbalife distributor. I hated having to go to all those meetings and make the thousands of phonecalls. It was hard work. I see the new distributer does it all online. Cool.
To end this section, I want to part with an offer to you to reply to me with your experiences, good and bad. What scams stung you? What programs out there are really working? I will post your replies in a future blog.
Michael.

Here is a link for more information on Ontario electricity prices and what the government has been promising.
And for other scams it does also talk about energy marketers.
